CONWAY, Ark. - Harding University sophomore Adrienne Bryant was not scheduled to play in the top six singles matches against Hendrix on Monday. But when sophomore Haniel Gara, scheduled to play No. 5 singles, was hurt in her doubles match, Janet Orgain moved up to No. 5 and Bryant took her spot at No. 6.

Bryant came up big for the Lady Bisons. With the match tied at 4-4 and Bryant's match with Hendrix's Abby Cape tied at a set each, the Salem, Ill., native pulled out a 6-3 victory in the third set to give Harding a victory in its first match of the spring season.

Harding held a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches. Lola Pardo and Gina Cielo won 8-4 at No. 2, and Orgain and Katherine Golik won 8-1 at No. 3.

Hendrix took the top three singles matches, but Cielo won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 and Orgain won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 setting up Bryant's heroics.

The Lady Bisons next meet Northeastern State in Conway, Ark., on Friday, Feb. 6.
